Has anyone used this printer? I wonder how it compares to the i960. The picoliter drops from 2 to 1 but it also goes back to the 4 color ink system and adds black. I am curious if the results are better than those of the i960 - any experiance?

I can't find any reviews since it is so new...

I just got this printer. I don't have the i960 so I can't compare against it, but I love the prints the i5000 have been creating for me.

When I bought the printer though, I did have the sales guy print the same image (that I took with me) on a i5000 and an i960, and while the images were very close, I preferred the output generated by the i5000. The colors were just a bit richer.

I was browsing a CompUSA store last night, and a Canon rep was there. He started to tell me how much better the pixma printer was and then got distracted to another (female) potential customer.

While he was "canonizing" the girl, I checked out the output. They had taken some pics of the store and surroundings with a 3.2 mp camera and printed them on 4x6 and 8x10 paper. The big glossy prints DID look very nice. I did a doubletake. I think it really is worth checking out.

Thanks. I already went with a closeout i9100 for $250. While it is a little older technology, I can print larger sizes. A friend of mine just bought the PIXMA ip6000 (like the ip5000 but with 6 inks) and loves it but I have not seen printsfrom it yet.
