Hi Everyone.

I have just purchased a Magicstor 2.2Gb Plus to use with my 300D (which is shown as compatible on the GS-Magicstor website) however I'm having some problems.

After inserting the card and switching the camera on it works fine. After taking some pictures I switch the camera off and the card make a noise about every 3 - 5 seconds like the disk is spinning. Also if I try to switch the camera back on it will not let me. To get it to function again I have remove the card, replace it and switch the camera on again.

Does anyone else have on of these cards and a 300D? If so do you have the same problem?

Also, the card doesn't appear to work at all with the CF card reader!!!

Anyone got any ideas?

Andrew.

Send it back and get a full refund. The 2.2GB magicstor microdrive is a disaster in nearly all Canon dSLRs. Seriously.

Do a search for "magicstor" on here...

So why are they on the compatibility list then?

Perhaps you should address that question to GS-Magicstor.... just bear in mind that they are trying to sell you something... we aren't.

I have filled out there support form on there website, but I don't hold out much hold. Someone in another forum I found using Google say he thought it was a problem with the 1.1.1 firmware, but I can't find anywhere to get the original 1.0.2 firmware from to try it, to see if it would fix the problem. Any ideas where I can get it?

Andrew.

Here's a great example of why you should do some research before buying anything. There are tons of threads all over the various popular photography boards about how bad these cards are.

Chalk it up to experience this time.
