Last week I got some time around LAX and Van Nuys. There are worse places to shoot than California in January! Here are some samples of what was on display.

some nice shots here! how close were you to the runway? what lens/body did you use?

I'd say the LAX shots were taken from hilltop location on Imperial Avenue (above Imperial Highway).

Van Nuys, I'd say it was a Santa Ana winds day so he was at the airport observation area off Woodley, northeast area of the airport.

#5 (The Falcon Jet) is registered to Nike, hence the paint job that looks like the bottom of a running shoe.

Thanks for the nice comments. The guesses on locations were pretty much spot on except for the shots from below which were taken from Sepulveda Blvd. They are all with the 100-400 on a MkIIN. Good information on the Falcon. I was wondering what the color scheme was supposed to be about.

Actually, no although close by. Since the light is the wrong way at this time of year, I parked on the side street, Sepulveda Eastway I think, and walked a little south from there. I wanted to have the light behind me.

Wow, these are some good shots. I like the first one the best because you can see some rainbow.
