Ok I need to get a pelican case to put all my goodies together nice and organized. I need to fit my 2 30D's and all the lenses in my sig. I also have a bunch of accessories and a Canon GL3 video camera I would love to fit in there too if possible. Any suggestions for what size case with a little bit of room to grow into as well? If anyone has pics of their cases with all the stuff inthe mthat would be great too.
Thanks,
-Joey

That looks like it's going to be a H U G E case. I am curious as well which size pelican case. This is going to be strictly a case to keep at home (although should be easy to tote around) if need be minus the Canon GL3. lol.

I posted some photos of the 1650 a while back here:

Personally, I could have used an even larger case, but I didn't think I would use up this much space. If you've got the space, I would suggest you get as big as possible since the cost difference is minimal.

I personally have a few pelican cases. I love the build of the pelican cases and how it keeps my gear. My most used pelican cases are the 1514--- it is a wheeled padded divider case for carry on. The other much larger wheeled case is the 1614---padded dividers --this should meet your needs for what you are looking for. I love mine!

Can someone explain how the number system works? 1514, 1614, etc. etc.

I have the 1514 with padded dividers and a pouch inside the top to hold all my accessories. I LOVE it!

CLICK HERE (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=347399) for a review I did of my 1610 with dividers and lid organizer.
It works great for me.

The 15xx series will NOT fit all your gear. I think the next one is the 16xx.
The number goes like this... at least for the 1500 series:
1500 - Case with no wheels - Foam
1504 - Case with no wheels - Padded Dividers
1510 - Case with wheels - Foam
1514 - Case with wheels - Padded Dividers
The 15xx and 16xx is based on the size. Don't it has much meaning besides a model number. Best to check the dimensions on the pelican site. Either way, get the padded dividers, as they are much better for us photographers.

If you're looking for a place to keep it all together and won't be using it much for transport, then get a larger case. I have the 1654 and wouldn't go smaller for storage. The Pelican case has all the dimensions listed, so you can use that as a reference. I would also do a search on these forums for reviews and photos of the cases filled with gear.

Like stathunter, I also have a "flock" of pelicans. It's so easy to store all your stuff in them and just grab them and throw them in the car and you know that you won't have left anything behind. The 1614 is the one I store both camera bodies and short lenses in. I keep all my long lenses in the 1514. I'm thinking of getting another 1514 to store all the flash gear in.
Another vote for padded dividers too.:D

Thanks, these information would be a great help. Unfortunately the dimensions can tend to be confusing in figuring out whether all my gear will fit into the case. I don't know the pad's thickness, how many pads comes with it and to mentally put it together based on the gear I have...well it's difficult. I know that trial and error is usually the way to go but I don't want to be spending more than I should for the case. I would definately want to get one with wheels and the padded version versus the foam.
I don't expect to carry this with me. However, in the off chance I do, I don't want to struggle carrying it. Hopefully the wheels will help a bit however the bulkness (in terms of largeness) is what I am concerned about.
Lastly, I do want to fit all my gear (as storage) with room to grow.

I'm very happy and satisfied with my 1614 which I got for my gear below and primarily for home storage. But in case I do need to carry it, the pull out handle and the wheels make the job very easy. Even for home storage I wouldn't want to go any larger. I might as well use my shed.

That's perfect! I can't recall is there a picture of the 1614 out there already? Sorry too lazy to look back but from the looks of things, you have pretty similar gear which if you are saying that anything larger is BIG then 1614 may be the case for me as well.
My problem with purchasing bags and so forth is that it either fits just right or I have to cram things into it, it never turns out that I have a bit of room in the event my gear grows a couple more items or so.

Yep, you're too lazy! See my earlier post in this thread and click on the link I provided. It shows pictures of the 1614 and what can go in there.
The way I use the Pelican case, though, is for storing items that I'm not currently using. The ones that I use more frequently are stored in my Kata R-103 backpack, as well as in my Kata holster bag. Of course I do this not because I don't have enough room in the Pelican case, but for practical reasons. The thing about the 1614 is that you can store your long lenses (70-200, 100-400) vertically, meaning you can fit more stuff in there, as opposed to horizontally. I'm not too sure about this, but I don't think you can store the long lenses vertically in the 1500 series cases. Laying things flatly or vertically makes a huge difference in how many items you can store in the case.

We have the 1514 with the equipment listed in my signature. Honestly, it is too small... and I am sure we will be upgrading to a larger size soon. The other option may be another 1514 as one big factor is it fits perfectly in the airline overhead. We don’t typically fly for any wedding we cover, but it is a nice option as I would never want to check our equipment with the rest of our luggage.
One thing needs to be clear, I see some photographers sending links to other types of cases. The Pelican is used by the military and these things can take any abuse that a photographer can throw at them! They are air tight, water tight, and they float! Any time we have been at a beach wedding here in Fort Myers we have never had any sand or dust even get in the case. The trick is making sure your camera is debris free when you put it back in...

You should PM DWIGHT MCCann: //photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=24877
He is the Pelican Guru, has several and should be getting commission from them. Sounds to me like you will need one that is larger than the 1510 which I got a few months ago and am nearly grown out of! Let us know what you go with. Hmmm after reading the post more thoroughly I MAY order a larger peli, but at 5'4 with a herniated disc in my back may not go to larger peli.
