Hey guys, just creating a topic for the question that is regularly asked, what book to get?
I just read two book this last month which were really really great, they were recommended by my prof after i asked him how I can get ahead of the class when it comes to technique.
The Photographers Handbook - John Hedgcoe
Even the latest edition of this book is quite old, I think 92, but its has information up the wazoo. I got a mint copy for $3 on ebay, a saving of $25. This book is great for people who want to learn the concepts and theories behind how and why cameras & their accessories work + some minor lighting stuff and a good chapter on darkrooms.
Understanding Exposure - Bryan Peterson
I was about to buy this when I noticed that a new one was just released that covers all sorts of digital as well. This book is a must have if you want to learn how to expose an image to perfection, techniques and proper ways to achieve great effects. Once you read this, you should understand how to get proper exposure every time without trial and error and with great consistency.
Next book I plan on buying, National Geographic Field Guide (2nd Ed)
This was suggested by one of the guys at National Geographic Photography.
Cheers.
