Caught my first wolf spider of the year yesterday- smallish female out sunbathing and trying to avoid me - It ended up on the side of a brick edging on a flower border facing downwards :)

Great shot Brian, lovley colours. I found these so frustrating to photograph last year, very twitchy subjects.

Thanks Alistair :)
Yes you have to be a bit patient with these - often if they dissappear when you appoach but then you can set up the camera etc and wait a while and they will reappear and then consider the camera part of the BG.

Hiya Brian,
Excellent shot, I've said it before & I'll say it again I love Wolfies, I've not seen any this year yet guess they got more sense than to venture out in this dreadful weather, spotted a few flickers of Lightning just now.
Cheers for now

Lovely colour and light clarity Brian (shame about clipping the legs), I don't know, you should never disturb a lady sunbathing.

Thanks for the comments everyone :)
Lester- yes you are right but there was no way I could get the camera and flash round for a landscape shot - the ground was in the way :) and I know what would have happened if I'd tried moving to shoot from the other side (apart from the sun being in the wrong position).

i love shooting wolf spiders. over here they dont seem to mind the camera at all. i love the golden colors on this one mine are a lot darker and some have stripes or gold and brown.

Thanks Jay- they seem to get darker with size and the males are often very dark.
