Can someone explain why the time indicated when I post a message seems to be so far off what I would expect it to be?

I am posting this a just about 8:00 PM Friday Pacific Daylight time which should be 8 hours behind GMT. Therefore the current GMT would be 4:00 AM Saturday. However the date on this message when it appears wil probaly indicate 10:00 AM Saturday.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ron

Actually your post is showing as 8:50 PM Friday Oct. 8, 2004. And this one is showing as 9:01 PM Friday when it was posted at 11:01 PM.

Wow that's weird. When I look at my post it says 9:50 AM Satuday and your says 10:01 AM Saturday.

Maybe I have something set wrong in my Profile.

Okay it has to do with my profile.

I mistakenly had it set for GMT + 8 Hours but changed it to the correct GMT - 8 hours. Then when I had a look at my post they were close but not quite right. I re-adjusted my profile to GMT - 6 hours and now the times are looking correct.

I think for you PacAce if you set your profile to GMT - 3 your post might show the correct time. You are on the east coast aren't you?

Something is not right here.
To have an idea how "hours" work, imagine a globe. There are horizontal and vertical lines, right?

Each vertical line represent an "hour". So count the lines from where you are to the point where you want to go (or check). That will give you the time difference. East from you = minus, west is the opposite.

opps. East from you = +
