When will 1DS Mark II be orderable?

I assumed there would be pre-order capability by now. Is it November they are orderable and shipping or just orderable? Just trying to figure out when I'll be able to get one in my hands. I assume this will be similar to other launches of the past for which I've not participated in this early in the process. Can someone share their experiences of previous new release models?

Last week a salesman at Unique Photo told me a guy came in earlier in the week that plopped down $7999 to ensure he would be 1st on the list, so I guess some stores are already taking pre-orders.

I think the fastest way to get one would be to watch the forums here. Between all the members there will be minute by minute checks of all the online stores inventory, and a message will be started here within 10 minutes of the first sale. That's how I got my 20D. I saw a message here about B&H having them, 2 days before B&H emailed me to say they had them in stock.

Given Canon's track record with new camera releases. I would wait 3 to 6 months. That way you miss early productions bugs. Look at all the problems people are having with the 20D.

Thanks for the input, I'll take the plunge early. (somebody has to do it) I have an immediate need for it's capabilities). I'll post my experiences with it once I have it aquired. I hope to see it next month sometime!
