I'm kinda leaning torwards the Giottos. It looks better built than the Gitzo. Legs look stronger to me. Does anyone here have any experience with either Tripod.
I still dont know what Head I'm going with though.

I also considered these exact two tripods. At the time I was looking, it was hard to find any reviews of the Giottos. I only managed to find one, and it was very negative: the tripod basically fell apart. Since then, however, I've come across several more reviews, all of them positive, so that 1st review was probably a fluke.
Nevertheless, I did end up buying the Gitzo based on that one negative review and also because every review of the Gitzo was glowing. While the load capacity of the Giottos is almost double that of the Gitzo, I've found the Gitzo legs to be plenty strong. The Giottos is significantly heavier at 6.6 lb. vs 4.9 lb. for the Gitzo.
The only disadvantage of the Gitzo is that levelling it takes a little more effort because there are no detents in the legs. Each leg is infinitely adjustable, which makes it easy to set the tripod in almost any position. There is a mark on each leg that helps with levelling but it's hard to see. The Gitzo has a built-in level to assist in levelling.
I never did get to handle a Giottos, but I did get the impression that tilting the center column on the Giottos is slightly more complicated than the Gitzo. With the Gitzo, you simply loosen a knob. I could be wrong about the Giottos but I think you need to flip a couple of things before you can tilt it. This may or may not be important.
Hope this helps.

I agree with steven. I was in the same situation. I posted here, and get a lot of answers. Both of the tripods seems to be good.
then I was in NYC at B&H and was able to compare these two tripods. the advantage of the giottos is that it is made of carbon fiber. BUT, its almost the same weight than the normal version of the Gitzo G2220. personaly I think the giottos is a little bit flimsy and complicated. my impression was that it is maybe not that stable then the giottos. but thats a impression wich is not based on experiance!
the negative thing on the gitzo is, like steven sad, that there are no grating on the legs. just a water-level. thats a bit tricky to have the same angel for all 3 legs.
best regards
Peter
