I changed the white balance and played with the colors a little bit. There was a yellow hue due to the lighting before. Photoshop darkened the colors a bit when I saved it again. The one thing I don't like is that the camera focused on the back flowers instead of the one in the immediate foreground...I didn't pay attention when I took the picture.

Looks good. I like the composition how the flowers seems to be blooming and rising (if that makes any sense). I wish the DOF was shallower though. The background is too distracting.
Also how about increasing the brightless and saturation a bit for that extra vividness and bright kick?

One thing I don't like is the background. I should have gotten rid of the bottle of garlic pepper at least, as it's the most distracting. I went into photoshop and gave the background a gaussian blur, but I didn't have the patience to select perfectly on the edge of the leaves/flowers, so it didn't come out perfect.
Here it is with the blur...You can see some of the edges still need to be touched up.

That looks better although the lack of gradual dissipation of DOF (since blurring was all applied flat universally) makes the vase look isolated and superimposed, especially towards the base.
If you want the money shot, you should retake the pictures. Use whiter background as well. Good luck!

Get those flowers on their own.....they are gorgeous, and would look fabulous with a darker BG

Agree with Gail, this picture needs to loose the background.
Definate Bokeh candidate. The roses are very nicely done i would PP the background to something else and also loose the organge thing in the vase.

I'll have to do that. I ordered a print of the original picture anyways(Just wanted to see the quality, and for 7$ who cares)...
But yeah, I'll try another few pictures with a different background and a shallower DOF.
But overall, not too bad for having the camera for a week?

The flowers turned out fine.....I have learned so much about placement and photography here.never took notice before. Sure makes a difference in a shot.
