Handheld? Shutter speed? Were you at 200mm?

Well, I don't have the 70-200 but I do have the 100-400 and I'll get a few that look like yours with my 10D. I just looked at your gallery and it is obvious you know your way around a camera. Very nice. Are any of your images coming out sharp with the 20D? There was another thread earlier where someone believed he had focus issues but turned out the shutter speed was just a tad slow. Play around with it a little more. If it still gives you blurry images then send it back. I'm sure others will be able to further assist you later.

I would try some pictures with tripod, self-timer, and even mirror lock-up first before concluding that there was a problem somewhere. The 1/100 sec for 200mm seems very slow to me, even though IS should help. Also, I shoot an EF 300 F4 L with Canon 20D for small animals at about 15 feet or so, and the calculated depth of field for those shots at F4 is about 13mm or so. That's pretty tight. Just try eliminating most of the variables that might affect focus first. If you still have problems, there are some focus tests you can run. Good luck.
