Now THAT is my idea of a voting place. Wines and Spirits add a little life to the process. :)

Nice shots! It's "Super Tuesday" here, too, which reminded me of Bob Hope in the old movie The Ghost Breakers. You've got to watch this! :D

Wondrful fun photo Marie. I'll tell you if they had polling places in taverns over here, voter turn out would more than double . Course there is no garuantee what the ballots would look like:rolleyes:. Are polling places are also in Schools along with Town Halls.

I think town halls may be used in some cases over here also, thanks Sandy
mostly in the junior school rooms . the kids love the day off

public houses would never be used in general elections what with the crowds (and all the drinking which would go on)
in this pub (in the photos) lots of couples were eating lunches and dinners around all the different nooks ....one more cosy then the other... their space :D
everyone was very sober
I was asked would I like to vote by the man from the states (at the desk)

:)

For a long time even the liquor stores would be closed on election day over here, years past politicians would buy votes with a bottle of booze. :D

Of course seeing who gets elected, I think it's still happening.

that must have been for the Irish immigrants ,extending the hand of friendship and warm welcome to them
and they responded in full with the good life habits (already there) of a lifetime
lol

and look what happened , all the irish connections

even Barack Obama's great great great great Grandfather came from a town not real far from here
;)
he probably got a bottle or two to help the votes way back

 " Joseph Kearney, shoemaker in Moneygall, co. Offaly,"

thats his great gr... gr... grandaddy Sandy !

" Fulmuth Kearney sailed from Ireland to New York, aged 19 in 1850. Newly discovered sources show that other members of the family emigrated in the 1790’s "
