There are ton's of pics of singers and guitarists and drummers... but what about the gear... all by itself.

Post pics of just the gear on stage.

James, it is certainly related to Performing Arts ... I've got a bunch of these to post. How about Huey Lewis' harmonicas:

or their keyboard setup:

http://dwightmccann.com/Images/HueyLewis08022007/fullsize/HueyLewis008.jpg

or Paulina Rubio's stage set:

George Thorogood and the Destroyers' drumkit:

Looking out into the Samala Room from behind the kit above ... a little tilted!

Wynonna's stage setup:

Hey Dwight, What kind of Fisheye did you use for your shots? I really want to get shots like that!

This thread is kind of cool. I'm going to have to start taking some more gear shots! :D

Dwight - It's cool to see the casino with the lights on...looks like a decent place to work!

flareak - I dig the pedal board shot.

The Samala Room is also the Bingo Room, the Fight Hall and the concert theater. The high false ceiling allows the numerous lighting trusses to be moved as needed with cable pulls and power available all around. During fight nights, the two large video screens in the front corners are augmented by two more in the back corners. The floor is carpet so I don't even need knee-pads to kneel comfortably in the aisles. And I've got a PhotoID that opens the backstage doors and underground parking. And there are no bad seats ... it only holds 1300 in its fattest configuration.

These shots look better in sets of *gear* shots... I find in most cases, that if only one pic is posted, it looks out of place... Even if it's in a set of pics from an entire show... it often is too specific...
Maybe an entire stage shot of gear, looks better...
Anyway, this thread is interesting as a whole... it gives me some ideas to expand my portfolio. Thanks guys, lately, I've been running out of creative ideas.

Yes, the 15mm on 5D most often ... I put it on a tabletop Gitzo tripod and use a cable release and usually shoot at a lower ISO and higher f-stop since I don't mind get seconds long exposures.

All various Marillion shots, quite a lot of my stuff ends up in the fan club mag so I tend to take the odd gear shot as well as they can use them for backgrounds.

not quite as flashy as some, but my first attempt....the sound guy can make or break a band's sound, so i figure this counts as on stage.
