Adding the registered symbol to text in PS-CS2?

Hello, I am working on a brochure that will have many, many lines of text. I need to add the registered symbol in with the text and I am hoping not to use the "custom shape tool" because it adds a layer for each symbol that I need. There will be approx 100 registered symbols throughout the brochure, that's a lot of layers and moving and....

In MS Word, I can just push "ctrl-alt-R" to add the symbol. Is there a key command in PS-CS2 to add the symbol directly into my text?

Hold down the ALT key and type 0174 on the keypad. This works on a Windows machine anyway. The copyright symbol is ALT 0169.
