I use 2300 mAh Accus in my Metz-flash. For the first 10 pictures the flash is ready after about 1-2 seconds. After that it takes longer and longer until the flash is ready again.

So I don't want to use regular batteries. Are there any ideas what I can do to get a longer lasting and high-power power supply for my flash ?

Hi

I shoot alot of sporting events that require alot of flash pictures and thus have experimented alot on batteries.

I use the 550EX and have found that the 2300 MAH NMH batteries are the best so far. I get many more flashes than you do when fully charged at short recycle times.

I have found that not all 2300 NMH battery manufacturers are good and even some 2500 NHM are not as good as some 2300NMH. Also very important is that although these batteries have no memory effect the manufacturers do recommend to drain them completely most of the time. I found that buying a very cheap flash light and draining them completely really does keep their performance.

Hope this helps.

Consider an external battery pack like the Quantum Turbo or Turbo Z if you want very fast recycle times.
