:D I was seconds away from paying for a new Ixus 500 as reports seem to be very good, I have a Minolta S304 which is fine but a bit on the bulky side for what I am wanting, I just want something small enough to slip in the pocket yet be able to produce good quality shots equal to the Minolta.
Having supplied a client with the previous Ixus 400 model I was impressed and it seemed to fit the bill, however just as I was about to buy one  my wife spotted an item on the E18 error message which seems (if you believe what you read) to be a huge problem with these models, now I am unsure what to do as one site has quated out of warranty repairs for this problem as being almost 300 euros. To my mind I am not too concerned about this as under the sale of goods act if the item was purchased with a manufacturing defect then the manufacturer is responsible for correcting that defect for up to 6 years after the purchase date, obviously if this is affecting a large number of these models there should be no arguement as to whether it was a manufacturer defect in the product at the time of purchase, however I can obviously do without the hassles.
 This brings me to my question, should I buy one of these or am I likely to be buying problems and be better off spending my money on a different manufacture which would provide the same image quality?
Thanks in advance.
