Broken CF card????

I was home form college last weekend and i was shooting some pics of my younger sisters homecoming. My sister then took the CF card to walmart to get them printed. when she came back she said that they could get any of the pictures off the card.

Everytime i try to open the card my comp freezes and my 300d wont start up if the card is in it.

Is there any way that i can recover the pictures and format the card or am i just screwed out of both.

If so, i dont have have any kind of warrenty or anything on the card and i dont have the recipt anymore is there anyway to get a new card (such as sending it in to sandisk).

try to download some recovery software, there is a bunch of shareware and freeware stuff around that works.

I am assuming ou are using a card reader, if so, then try transfering via the camera. If all else fails you might need to wipe the card. Sometimes things get corrupt. My card went bad after about 300 shots at the Canadian GP on raceday, I could only save about 50%-60% of the images via recovery software, but 150 pictures is better then none.
