I'd rather see that shot with the focus point a bit farther out than right in front of the camera.

I like the idea you present in the first shot, marrying the leaves with the great golden expance. Unfortunately you get that seperation so it looks like your peering over a verge into the field.

The second shot, you can see that your viewing a continuous expanse, and it looks really nice.

yeah, I guess I like the second one, too.

that was taken at eye level, and I really try to avoid taking pictures at eye level, but sometimes, it works well.

Now, I wish I had brought my S1 with me, so I could have used my circular polarizer to get a deeper blue sky.

The second shot, you can see that your viewing a continuous expanse, and it looks really nice.

I agree. Notice on the second one you've moved the horizon up into that top 3rds section, and the result is a much more pleasing and smooth transition between the field and the sky.

I agree, I would maybe move the horizon up a little bit more.
