Does anyone know where I can find an online guide...most custom wedding album design companies don't display their prices on their website. I'm teaming up with a local photographer and designing wedding albums using her pictures. The albums are completely custom...I use photoshop and illustrator...no drag and drop cookie cutter templates. Any suggestions? Even a general range would be great. I'm young, but I do great quality work, so I have no idea what to even expect. She's asking me, and absolutely loves my work, and I have no idea what to tell her! Thanks.

To be more specific...the albums are leather bound...usually 24 10x10 pages (12 panoramas). And to see an example of the quality of work, here is a link to a sample album I've designed

Depends what your cost is. Then times 3, and see if that is enough. Are you pricing this to the photographer or the client? How much volume or work will you be getting?

Estimate how long it'll take you, multiply that by your hourly rate. Wedding albums take WAY longer than you'd expect, but you can get to be reasonably quick and still do a good job. Well if you use an album design program you can get to be quick, if you just use Photoshop you'll never be really fast.

Hi drummer - know what you mean about lack of online rate sheets; one of the reasons they do that is to discourage brides from calling and then crabbing about the album prices to their photogs.

Have you tried this: call any of the outfits - Leathercraftsman, Capri, Zook, etc - and explain exactly what you are trying to do. Once you convince them you are legit they will mail you rate sheets, leather samples and even give you detailed price info on the phone.

I just went through this myself, having been a little bit surprised when they initially did not want to give me any pricing. Once I convinced them I really was a shooting pro and wedding photographer they became more congenial and were very accomodating. Apparently they get annoying calls by bridezillas trying to price check their photographers.
