i installed a new icc profile for ilford paper but it is not showing up in the LR color management profile in the "choose profile" window.

it appears in CS3 though.

any clues how to get lightroom to "refresh" itself? i rebooted the pc.. no luck

Don't you have to load them? Go to "Print" on the menu, and then under profile management, look for the profile names. Choose "Other", and it will let you load them up (place a check next to each profile you wish to load)

yup i know that.

the problem is that when u select "other" , the "choose profiles" window does not list the newly installed profile.

CS3 does show it so i know its installed...

That's interesting. I just downloaded a profile from Ilford for my 3800, extracted it, right-clicked on the file and chose "install profile", and it immediately showed up in LR. Didn't have to even shut it down and restart it.

Where did you put the ICC profile?

if u right click on the icm file, and click "install now", it installs in:
windows/system32/spool/drivers/color

Very strange that it's not showing up for you. I can't see anywhere in LR where you can specify location or what gets selected other than what's already been discussed.

Nah, there's got to be an explanation. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the profile?

Silly question but, alphabetically, is the Ilford profile the last one in the list? I saw this on the LR User2User forum as one issue a person was having. I also saw some mention on how LR tries to filter out monitor profiles automatically and fails at times. What Ilford profile are you trying to use? I'd like to see if I can d/l it and have it show up.

I'm using ilford galerie smooth

But note that I also have the ilford galerie classic pearl installed too and ironicalled that one DOES show up and it is the last one on the list of checkboxes....

Hmm maybe I'll uninstall all ilfords...

Try installing one you don't need that would show up last alphabetically. That's what one poster over at the LR U2U forum did to get around this issue.

Try this (assuming it is installed in the correct directory): right click on the profile, choose associate, then if your printer is not showing in the pop up window, choose add and your printer should be listed there. Select your printer and then "OK" out. That should solve the problem.

Did you try the steps outlined in #2 post in this thread?

this looked promising but it did not work :/

i uninstalled both Ilford Smooth Pearl and Classic Pearl profiles. then physically deleted them both from the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color

reopened LR. Then exited LR, installed one at a time: Smooth pearl profile.. opened LR, it does NOT show up. uninstalled Smooth pearl profile and deleted it. installed Classic pearl profile, opened up LR, it DOES show up.

there is something that LR does not like about the ilford smooth pearl profile. cs3 shows this profile fine.

dd - I just downloaded and installed a smooth pearl profile for my 3800 and it shows up no problem. What paper type and printer are you downloading for?

It's also possible that it's a CMYK profile, which LR doesn't recognise. Feel free to email it over and I'll check it for you.

I can't give you a definitive answer on that, but why would they? They should show up in an application that's equipped to handle them, but I would only expect my printer driver to handle those profiles specifically designed for it. My Epson 3800 only shows Epson profiles; I would not expect it to handle HP.
