Hi everyone,

Earlier today, I shot airplanes overhead for the first time:

It was a very fun learning experience, and it gave me the appetite for more. Later that afternoon, I went out again, and found a different spot to shoot from. While still not optimal (wish I'd done these one hour later in the day), I still really had a great time taking these, and I hope you like them. I took some advice and got a little more up close and personal in some of these.

I'm definitely hooked, and can't wait to shoot more in the near future! Thanks for looking, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

-Mike

I like these alot better than the other thread. The straight up looking at the belly doesn't do anything for me. I like the angle on these.

Very nice shots, but a bit too tightly cropped in my opinion. You need to leave room for the plane to 'fly into', so a little more space all around with a bigger margin ahead of the nose. Number 5 is about right in this respect.

I like the second shot with the contrails, nice design to it and not that common.

very nice, I like the first the most, but cropped too much I think

I suppose everybody has their own opinion, but I like the last close up of the underside. Its a fantstic sharp image with loads of detail.
Well done.

Hey Mike, Way Better! More Detail, More Reach, Wheels Up! Great Work!!!!

Thanks, everyone! I'll definitely take the cropping advice to heart. My focus on this batch was to get the planes in frame and to try to obtain as much detail as possible at the same time... for some of these, I actually had to extend the borders out a bit to give them at least a little bit of breathing room, while capturing as much detail as I could. And yes, I'm definitely hooked... I think I might head out again today to see what other angles I can get. :) Thanks again for looking!

Haha... now if I could just get more reach and somehow take that same shot against a colorful sunset sky, then I might have something. ;)
