Hello all,

I would like to request some samples of wedding photo's taken at f2.8 and what shutter speeds you used.

I am looking to buy a new lens, and I don't know if I need 2.8 or not. In this part of the world (Greece), the pictures that sell, are the one's that everyone (be it foreground or background) is in focus. If my clients see the wedding couple in perfect focus, and thier mother in the background out of focus, the photo will probably not sell. They might even say that the photographer doesn't know what they are doing because half of the photo is blurry!?!?!?!?!

Most of my sales come from realatives 50+ years of age.

The photo's that I do sell well are usually shot between f5.6-f11.

I'm trying to break into my creative side (shallow dof/bokeh), however 99% of those photo's simply won't sell.

Any samples or advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

S,

:)
A friend of mine took a pic of his mother with a shallow DOF.
She said that something was wrong with the pic because the China cabinet behind her was blurry.

I actually had this happen to me as well when I was asked to take pics at a small gathering.
These days when in doubt I shoot both wide open and stopped down.
These occasions are rare but it does happen.

Bear in mind that you will get a different effect with different focal lengths - The depth of field will be a lot shallower with a longer lens.
