Ryan - there is something not quite right with these images. They lack saturation, and good blacks, in the shadows.
I assume you are working with a calibrated set-up?
The content is good.
It will be interesting to see if others feel the same.
Best wishes - john

Ryan, there's nothing wrong with the action in these but as John says above something's gone a bit wrong. They look washed out. Are they "straight out of the camera" or have you adjusted them in any way?

almost straight out of the camera, just lightened #6 slightly and put a little bit of saturation into all of them, not happy with any of my results from the two events i've shot in RAW so think i'm going to go back to normal JPEG files

Cheers,
Ryan

they look great with autolevels on the luminance channel in LAB mode.

Ryan you might want to check your watermark?
I'm not sure but this could be affecting your image contrast.

Have been weighing up every aspect of the problem, could the problem be that i was shooting into the light for every image apart from #7?

Thanks,
Ryan

It looks like many of these are over-exposed. The whites and other highlights on #2,3,4,6 and 8 seem blown out.

I agree with Caldwell, they just seem blown out. I'd stop down the lens a stop or 2 on the next try. Also, I'd suggest a Circular Polarizer for the lens. The overall white cast (mostly overexposure) detracts from some GREAT shots.

The CIR-POL will give your colors more pop, plus you'll get clearer images of the drivers thru the windshields.

There rings the advice of someone who's never shot a rally, there's usually only just enough light to get the whole car in focus, without loosing a stop or 2 to a polarizer.

I am glad you agree with me about the over-exposure but using a polarizer to shoot rally cars isn't a good idea. A polarizer reduces the amount of light hitting the imaging sensor but it also reduces by 1.5 to 2 stops the light hitting the AF sensors. Conditions under the trees at a rally stage are normally fairly dark and low contrast to start off with. If you further cripple your AF sensors by up to 2 stops you are unlikely to get very much in focus at all. Remember that the sampling frequency of the AI servo AF is directly related to the amount of light hitting the AF sensors. You don't want that to fall too low. That's why f/2.8 lenses are king on rally stages.

Nice shots, also there's no colour profile embed in them which won't help either.
