I want a photo printer to go up to say Letter size (but that's not fixed, just a vague target). For home use, but good enough to sell the results if I so choose.

What are people's recommendations? I'm interested both in technically superior solutions regardless of price, and solutions which deliver good performance relative to their cost.

And as a close follow-up, what paper do people recommend? Again, both the "ultimate" solution and the "value" one.

As I'm out in the styx down here in Belize, availability and cost of consumables (ink, paper) is a significant consideration.

Of every printer I have used my Epson 1280 has given me the least trouble and the most satisfaction.
Since Epson's print heads are common to the printer body rather than the print cartridge, one needs to print with them quite often to keep the print heads from drying out.

What sort of numbers of photos are you looking to print, like per month

Very few, no more than 10-20, often fewer.
