My my my have CF prices fallen the last year or so! Any one also sees this?
Also why are they going so low? Good for all of us who want more memory and don’t want to pay a lot. I for one like the price $88 for a one-gig card pro card. I want a 2gig card but I am waiting as I fell prices will fall lower in the next few months. I wonder what the 2GB cards will sell for in January?

I think CF card prices have fallen a lot just within the last two months. The prices that have fallen the most are on the slower cards. As we know, up until this year, most the cameras could use slow cards almost as effectively as fast cards, but just now cameras are starting to emerge that can use more of the card speed. Therefore, the slow cards will become slightly obsolete soon, and it is a good time to buy cards, especially if your camera does good with the slow ones.

A computer superstore in my area - Fry's - had a 512 Mb CF for $45 with a $25 rebate. It was only one to a customer and only one rebate per household, but I had my wife get one too and we used my in-laws address for the other rebate. A total of 1Gb for $40.

Just purchased the Lexar 2 GB Professional 80X CF from Buy.com for $188.00. They also have a $40.00 mail in rebate running from Oct. 3 to Oct. 16. Add $10 for 2 day shipping and I end up with a very high speed, high capacity card for $158.00 :D
Best deal I have seen so far. B&H are out of stock of the Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB and their price was $189 plus shipping. Now I have the 20D I figured I would need more space and speed. I currently own a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra I, so I look forward to reporting any vast improvement. I doubt it, but you never know.

CF is just like any other computer component.. (Hard disks, RAM etc)..
It starts out expensive and drops steadily in price.. I guess once the manufactureres have recouped the development and tooling costs, competition kicks in and down go the prices.
I've still got a 1X 128 Megabyte card that I paid $99 bucks for a few years back. It was a super bargain out of New Egg at the time :)

I am planning on getting a sandisk 2gb card from ebay for $129. Probably not the fastest, but I already getting 70 photos in less than 10 seconds with my 20D and a 0x 512 card...Dean
