I bought my wife a A720is for Christmas. She loves the camera & it takes good shots. But the other day while at the Philly Auto show, we noticed this anomaly. Using the LCD to compose the shot, a line of flowing multi colors dropped from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. What was even stranger, is that if you turned, still using the LCD, the line stopped and disappeared from the screen. You turned back to the original shot and the line would reappear.

To further muddy this up, she was focusing on a black Porsche and the multi-colored flowing line appeared on the screen. She turned and focused on a red Porsche and there was no line. Any thoughts of what might have cused this type of behavior?

Were you pointing toward any lights that were pointing toward you? It sounds to me like a lens flare from off axis strong direct light.

Did the line show up in the photo? Post the photo for us to see.

No the line did not show up in the photo, only on the LCD.

Then it was "bloom"; it'd also show up in videos under the same conditions. As long as it isn't in your photos, don't worry about it. It is caused by light sources in the picture.
