My first ever attempt at shooting food. I'm usually a concert photographer, but decided that since my fiance spent so much time making the cheesecake, I should probably take a pic of it.
I added the whip cream and chocolate sauce. Got a drop of sauce on the whip cream too.... next time i'll use a pastry bag with a star tip instead of a spoon of cool whip, and maybe not drip the sauce right from the Hershey's bottle.

anyway, whatcha think???

I think it's a little too dark. My opinion is that the whipped cream should be white.

Good shot but, black and white isn't very appetizing. How's the color version look?

Hey guys, Thanks. Like I said, this is my first foray into shooting food. I think I'll shoot another later this evening when I get home and post the results.

I like it, but i think food shots need to be in color. This would be much more apealing to me if i could see the colors.

londonblue007,
Looks like Pumpkin pie not cheese cake? ???
I agree with using color for food, not artificial color, natural color ;)

uh, yea, i can explain that... the cheesecake pan got left at my girlfriend's parents house, so she made the batter, but didn't have anything to put it in, so she improvised and used a pair of pie plates, since it's all we had.

I took some color shots in the same shoot, but the white balance is all off and everything has a yellow hue, since i had set things for shooting outside earlier in the day and didn't think to change it.
