I'm thinking of getting this Excalibur 2 light system (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/190526-REG/SP_Systems__Excalibur_800_W_S_2_Light.html). any pros/cons? anyone using this...?

Or this less powerful 3 light setup (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/397189-REG/SP_Systems__Excalibur_480_W_S_3_Light.html)

For the most part, the "studio" (living room) room available is only approx. 12x18ish or so.. depending how i move the furniture. BUT i do have a warehouse I can use at my disposal. But the living room is simply more convenient on short notice.

This would be my first REAL light system. Before spending money on something I am totally oblivious about, I bought a cheap 50 buck ebay setup. I guess it served it's purpose to get me started and wanting more (see my post in glamour - 1st attempt at glamour) so I think I am going to spend the money and go for it. Just trying to decide on what... I looked at the Alien bees and the above... Any preferences? other choices? I like the cheaper prices of Excalibur lol.

I'm all ears...or eyes.

Thanks in advance!

Flip

ps this is really starting to cost me!! lol... now if I can just figure a way to make it pay for itself! lenses, lights, accessories! damn this website

It would be helpful if you post a link to the kit. I'm looking at B&H and there are quite a few different Excalibur two light kits so its tough to know which you mean. I don't have much experience with strobes, or these ones in particular, but in the alien bee/ Excalibur price range you might also want to look at calumets genesis lights.

I've been looking at these as well, also the Calumet genesis kits...but I keep going back to the Alienbees.

I'm new to lighting and I'm looking to get a kit in the near future....but from what I've read, these lights recycle time seems pretty slow.

Recycle Time
SPE1600: Minimum 0.3 sec., maximum 3 sec.
SPE6400: Minimum 0.5 sec., maximum 5 sec.

VS.

Alienbees 1sec to full.
