Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to buy a flash or bouncer yet, so I'm going to have to use the on board flash. It is a last minute kind of thing for a friend.

Any particular advice on settings to use indoor with built-in flash? Maybe an outdoor shot or two also?

Thanks in advance

Good luck with that. Internal flash sucks

There's just not enough power in it. And you get red eyes... and shadows... etc...

What I did, is in Av mode popped the flash... The exposure is long, but the flash freezes it and makes it sharp, which makes motion effect.

I'd post a picture, but my site is down.

You know, I've had this idea for a while but since I haven't even gotten my camera yet, obviously I haven't tried it.. but I was going to tape a portion of a coffee filter (or 2, depends on how it goes) over the on-camera flash to hopefully diffuse it a bit and prevent blowing out highlights on faces and such.. just an idea until I get enough cash for a decent speedlite. it may actually just kill the flash entirely.. I don't know.. if it does I plan on trying kleenex. of course if you're trying to look pro, I wouldn't do that :) just some random thoughts I've had while waiting for the UPS man to get here (when you bastards, when?!).

Don't bother with tissue, just install the hack and use FEC.

Agree!!!

When shooting outdoor, try using a reflector.........could be a big white board to reflect the light back to the face. OR...........shoot when there is no harsh light hitting the face..........unless you want that nice dramatic shadow effect.

Too many options..........

Show us how you did and we'll point out what you did wrong :-p.
