My 550does all I need and more (so far) and the pair of sb-28's cost me $270 for both :) The second one arrived this morning in a box and leather pouch looking mint as and they perfect for off camera. The other thing they have over my canon (so far) that i have noticed is when I have them on standby mode and they go to sleep, they wake up when being fired remotely, the canon doesn't, I have to have it on all the time. Not a biggie, but another reason I like the nikon for remote firing. There are some serious bargains for some decent second flashes out there if you look hard enough. I have seen secondhand sb-28's advertised in two nz camera websites for 350+ each, landing my two for $270 ... stoked :) Wish it wasn't persisting down, want to go and play :)

Maintenance for the delay getting to Wellington - Someting about engine issues and needing to do some more tests, Fuel lines for the cancelled flight and maintenance for the final delay - weather was fine for all flights..

Not really inspiring for my personal safety when they keep telling me things like that..

Not sure if anyone has posted anything about the huge coolstore fire in hamilton but we were there so I thought I'd share a few shots. Fire was still going/smouldering when we left hamilton last night at 5pm

There this little rest area on the way to the beach with an old tractor parked by the road(can't remember exactly where). Trees shrouded over a lil bit, tractor abit weathered & rusty - to me the place looks like its got a bit of character. Wanted to take some shots on my way back home las time I was out, but I missed the location. I couldn't seem to spot the place on my way back.

Be nice to see some strobe action on that spot (if you can find it) :)

I don't think I'm gonna make it out tonight, sorry, just looks so dark & cloudy out there already. It'll be really dark by the time I get out there :P

Hmmmmm, if I edit in PS I get the colour cast, if I export straight out of lightroom I don't.
I guess I will be converting in LR and exporting as Tiff then doing the final conversion and sharpen in PS.

What colour space are you using when you send to PS? Do you know perchance if LR2 fixes the issue?

Wellington reporting in ;) just found this forum a while ago after a long break from Photography.

Apparently it is a documented problem, something to do with lightrooms interpretation of canons w/b info in the RAW file.
I have no idea if 2.0 fixes it, might be worth a try though.

yea a bit... I was hoping to pick up some tips from sothen yesterday but I was in bed, sadly :(

But got a few things lined up to test them out ;)

As Sothen will tell you, there really is nothing to it, its a little trial and error and go from there, you will be blown away with how simple his procedure is.

Get out there and play and see what you like. My favourite use is how you can throw a pool of light somewhere, which is especially usefull with the 10 - 20 :)

that I believe is so true. talking about things on the internet brings down many barriers that can stop people from saying the same thing in RL.

People just need to keep their baggage and personal BS off the forum, it is simply not the right medium to express it, and the central theme of this forum has nothing to do with it.

If your life is so sad, and so lonely, and you are so socially inept, you need a forum to deal with your baggage and personal BS, then there are plenty of general chat community forums out there.
All of which are far better suited to dealing with it than a PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM.

Just had a text from one of them, the shots are apparently a thing of beauty so I can't wait to see those. :D

Regarding the in-fighting that seems to be going off. I think we've got a couple of key people rattling others' cages, who genuinely need to either grow up, stop stirring the pot or clear off. There then seems to be a huge majority who get annoyed by this and deal with it in varying ways, some of which are good, some not.

Either way the net result is that, accompanied by high drama or not, people are jumping ship like mad. Good people who've got useful things to say, and those causing the grief and reacting to it in a back-biting way need to can their act because it's killing (or killed) what originally attracted most of us to GKPE in the first place.

I give it less than 24hrs til another intervention by a mod, and I just don't want anything to do with it. I kept my mouth shut last night as I was in a bad mood and quite able to have said something harsh, tonight I'm feeling more mellow. Clean your act up guys, seriously it's a bit embarassing. :)

To the photo posters, good effort dudes. Nice to see so many people playing with this off-camera flash stuff, which in one sense is easy, in another is pretty complex. Good to see so many people winning that battle. :)
