Does anyone have some recent prices for Canon batteries, just got a quote from a local source but doesn't seem that cheap VB511 (for 30D) and NB2LH (for 350D) $65.00 + GST

However, a 10 cell NiMh battery charger (slow charge, individual rate of charge) only $75.00 + GST. I've got so many AA's that I might get this.

Mark Vuleta

If you keep feeding him, no wonder he's staying around, make him work for his food, get some macro panning action going, especially if you can get one with those acute angles, its all the rage:rolleyes:

That gave me a bit of a fright! Was showing the wife the 30D to take to Dunedin on Thursday, set it up on full auto and tried to take a shot. Error 05, pop-up flash was stuck, took about 20 attempts to get it to work properly. Lesson, use it or loose it!. I don't think I've ever used the pop-up and I suppose it does need to be operated every so often (quite dirty under there as well).

So she is going with the 30D, 10-20 & 18-50 and the 580. Plenty of old architecture down there.

Supprisingly, I cant say I have heard of anyone from Dunedin on here, must be too tight!

IO have the same problem with my 350D.
It makes a horrible clicking sound when it tries to release the flash, then gives up & you need to switch off then on again.

But that doesn't stop me from trying! Macro has taken my fancy and the sheer diversity of subjects and their minute size makes it fascinating. I still try almost all 'other' types as well. Love aviation but am not good at it!

I must say this place smells a bit of fresh paint. I was getting quite settled into the old place. Oh well, hope this one's got a pool, I'm bloody roasting.

and another suggestion. Can the challenge topic be open for interpretation? Rain is rain (although can be photographed in a multitude of ways) but something a bit less specific like RED. Now that could mean a colour or if you say it (rather than looking at the spelling) it could mean to have read (a book etc).

not sure about a pool - we'd need planning permission & be fully fenced before we could put water in it.
As for challenge topics, everything is likely to be open to interpretation - it's interesting to see different takes on the same subject.

Yup, I could do with a couple for the 40D, I've been waiting for the next round of Sterlingtek battery orders. Who is going to co-ordinate?

Have a look at mine (www.colourandlight.co.nz (http://www.colourandlight.co.nz)). I like it because (other than the index pages) it's just exported direct from Lightroom - really easy. :) It's not too flash, but hey, it's supposed to be about the photos not the page itself... ;) Which reminds me, I ought to put some newer 'artistic' stuff up.

Hi John. Bay of Islands looks incredibly beautiful, judging pics I have seen. Sadly, I have never been before, and now it is about to become my new home...

At least it will ensure that the camera stays busy... lots of new thingies to take photos of!
Welcome :) SA has lots of v. interesting subjects too as I'm sure you know. I've just got back from spending a month there.

Thanks a ton! If this forum is anything to go by, the Kiwi must rate as one of the friendliest people on Earth!

I will hang around and get to know y'all. My interests are mainly macro, but have a look at my other gallery on our Proudly SAfrican site, here.
http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za/forum/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=853 I am mostly into nature and the outdoors, so anything goes really, but I have never been good at the big stuff.

i like the look of your stuff! that bushfire shot is really cool, looks like a scene from a movie. also like the mantis on your first page... (still looking through)

An idea, maybe even called a suggestion. Someone who posts here on a regular basis, maybe one of the top ten posters should keep the links to the other threads in their sig. That way you can always find if you haven't subscribed.

Now that could mean a colour or if you say it (rather than looking at the spelling) it could mean to have read (a book etc).

i like the first suggestion - unfortunately my sig wont let me put anything else in *YOU MUST HAVE 800 CHAR OR LESS...*

the second suggestion is good too - lets see some creativity!

Do one photo that has all of the above...

LMAO yeah i dare you!

I go away for a week and you all move house and change the locks.......shame about leaving the window open though..... my mates told me where to find you.

would that mate bear any resemblance to santa on a 'no-coffee' day? lol

Shane, from the other thread re posting images... i'll et some up ina few days, 1: Once I have Broadband on and 2: Once I go through and process some.

I worked on one from the abandoned house that came up well but it doesn't shrink down well, it loses all effect in my opinion. Might post a small one and then a link to the large image or something. LOL feel like a cripple without my adsl, pathetic aye.

Tony regarding the panoramic head, feel free to have a play with it at some point, though I'm not sure if posting it is a very cost efective option, it's not light and not small. May be in Auckland before too long anyway, got some birthday celebrations to see in.

As a small note, do any of you remember me obsessing a little about backing up work etc before the move? Ended up with three external HDD's with the same thing on, sent via the removals on the boat, one brought on the plane with me and my dad's posted the third once we'd arrived.

The thing is that whatever the reason for shooting, I just really can't be assed to physically pick the camera up. Leaves me cold. Tempted to start using Bob's compact for informal memory shots but then I know I get frustrated at the quality and lack of control.

I got models screaming at me here (although all on a TFCD basis) to shoot them and I am just not fussed. Which is a bit wierd really as how many blokes do you know that aren't fussed about seeing a lady wearing as little as possible? Perhaps Matt ought to come down... ;)

Bought my first SLR in '99. Used them ever since, studied between 2001 and 2006, been shooting for money freelance(ish) for about four years. Exhibited three years on the trot 04-06, have my images on walls or in galleries by now on most continents, height 6ft 4ins, weight=too much and inside leg 34".

Bored bored bored. It's driving me nuts with apathy for it, but some part of me won't let it just 'drop' and I don't know whether that's obligation or the smouldering embers of desire for taking pictures, which is I think the route of the problem. :?

Well, how are you all getting along in the new digs? I'll bet you're finding that life isn't all bad in 'General Chat.'
