Got a short shoot for a friend that would probably be best done tomorrow (as both her and her husband will be off from work). She wants me to take pictures of her pregnant (as she has none).

So, I could buy a 420EX from Wolf tonight for $241.49 after taxes. Or, I could just go with the built-in flash on my 300D and buy that flash at B&H for $195 after shipping at some later date.

Might be kind of a crazy question, I know. But, which would you choose? Take pictures with built-in flash or buy a 420EX at about $45 more from Wolf Camera tonight or tomorrow afternoon? Keep in mind that she has already asked me to take some shots of her baby when she is born, so I would like to make a good first impression if at all possible.

What would you do?

Thanks

It depends on how good they want the pictures and if your getting paid. the onboard for the most part will do a good job, but you risk red eye because of the closeness to the lens axis.

Download the hack........and ask wolf camera if they do price matches........show them the price in b&h..............and see if they relent.

If not.........

...........just use your onboard flash.............and use FEC to control the amount.

I've heard good things about the hacked firmware, but I'm still a tad tentative to use it. Is it truly safe?

I just had the same problem this week go buy the 420EX local or BHphoto and wait?
I wasn't getting paid for the job sooo.....the Vivitar will do because $45 bucks gets one a new small camera bag or a nice lens filter...or other odds and end toys.

If the gig paid a few bucks I could justify the flash.
