The Golden Poison Dart Frog.

While "Golden" is nice to have in a name, it doesn't sound like somebody that you would want for a pet with a name that contains the words, "Poison Dart".;)

Looks like a great pose in his habitat. The only qualms that I might have is that it looks like the color balance may be off judging by the green leaves and possibly over saturated in color. It looks like the lights might have created some highlights that were possibly over exposed by a small amount.

My personal preference (no longer worth $0.02 due to current market bear conditions), would be to not enhance the image any more than necessary (if that isn't clear as mud).

I did an edit, which might not actually be so good, but It was my guess at white balance.

Bill, you sharpened it up nicely. What filter did you use in PS?

Your edit muted out the colors quite a bit, Bill. The colors on terriblis is really something to behold, so it's going to be a balancing act to avoid oversaturation. I'll play with some levels and see what I can come up with.

On a side note, wild caught terriblis are considered to be the most toxic animals on the planet. They metabolize toxins from the food they eat (mostly ants) and are THE poison dart frog. A minute amount of skin toxin has the potential to kill many men. This specimen is captive-bred and raised by a fellow PDF hobbyist.

I apologize to you and to terriblis for muting the colors on him/her/it. I wouldn't want it to be mad at me.

I used the front-end Raw conversion sharpening in ACR 4.3.1. I also, used layers and masking to add additional sharpness to the eyes in the copy layer using ACR again. The layers were then blended in Photoshop CS3. I do not recall doing any additional sharpening, but if it had been an image that I planned to print, I would have probably applied USM globally and then perhaps selective sharpening on the GPD frog itself.
