Decided to start up a small time business doing some pictures on the side of my other photography career.

Here is the site I put together.. Sill in progress, let me know what you think.

Thanks!

It's taking way, way too long to load the site, Ryan. I'm not sure whether it's all the javascript you're using, or something with the server, but it could be the slowest site I've visted in a year...

I just went out there, and it seems to be coming up fine now. That's good...

Seemed to load fine for me, but I could hear my computer chugging in the background.

What struck me was too much wasted space at the top above the links. I'd move the logo up there, make the logo smaller, and thus allow the photos to move up and be more prominent. The photos were cut off on my screen and I had to scroll down to see them all.

I'm actually pretty impressed, that's a pretty nice site :D

My only recommendation is if you plan on doing business with it to go register yourself a domain name to use instead of the web.mac.com one

Good job though

Thanks,

I have a registered domain. I just dont have a full version of .mac yet, so I cant rename the domain until then.. but once my trial expires and I actually launch the business ill make sure all of my ducks are in a row. :)

Nice site, loaded fast for me. The only suggestion I can think of is to get rid of some of the empty space on the home page.

Load time was a little slow for me too....

It took over 15 seconds to load for me, and I have a pretty good connection. The site looks good, but having that long URL wont do anything for you. I'd invest a couple bucks into a proper domain name, and have it linked there at least.

Ryan my friend, try to stay away from .mac for web hosting. I have noticed that sites take a good while to load on these services.

.Mac is good for their email and such, but website hosting, especially for a business website in my opinion is big no no.

Try getting a domain and using say WebSite tonight, or I see you have a SmugMug.

I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks,

I am completely illiterate when it comes to webhosting and such.. it just goes *whoosh* right over my head. which I why I turned to .Mac.

I tried publishing my created site to a folder, then I hoped to FTP it up to my Host (1and1)

but this failed.. and since its all foreign to me.. I don't even have the know-how to remedy the problem.

If I find a friend who is experienced in this trade, Im going to make them do it for me. :(

Well, I was going to suggest GoDaddy. They have this thing called "Website Tonight" and it is basically a drag and drop type deal. Very simple to use for people knew to the whole website deal. 1 and 1's webhosting is kind of insulting, I would also recommend staying away from it LOL. 1 and 1 also offers this option, but I have never used it myself. It is called 1&1 WebsiteBuilder. Give it a try.
