These pictures are of a refinery outside Mandan, North Dakota. A tall frozen mound of dirt in a field affords this view. This particular night was Super Bowl Sunday. After reading the threads about cold weather shooting the day before, I felt encouraged that my camera wouldn't die. Thanks POTN. Any commentary is welcome.
Both pictures taken with a tripod mounted Canon Xti with kit lens. Low ISO. Long Shutter. Mirror Lock-up. freezing hands .:)

You took something that might not be otherwise interesting, and made it interesting, nice job.
About the camera gear, if it dies because it's cold outside, it's death is deserved, and that piece of equipment doesn't belong in your arsenal!

Nice images. Do a lot of cold shooting up here in Maine--never been a problem.

Not to hijack, but ask my wife...I was pretty gung-ho on moving to Bangor Maine(from California)!

If you don't mind the snow, it is absolutely enchanting up here. My biz partner and I moved up here from Tempe, Arizona. Before Arizona we were in Seattle, Washington. Like it here best. You could spend years photographing up and down the coast.

I never thought of it that way. My hesitation originated from reading somewhere that the XTi's were only rated to 32 degrees or something like that. As I've found since joining POTN, that is not true.
