TOO MANY CHOICES!!!!!

I tried to look into RSS ballhead QR plate combos- it's like a nightmare of confusion and too much information!!!!!

Can any tripod-knowing people help?

I'm after a reasonably priced ballhead with panoramic capacity, and a spirit level quick-release clamp. The biggest thing to go on it would be a 5D and a 100-400 with a 430 EX. I'd like to couple it with a manfrotto 55 or 190 with the horizontal arm function.

Any suggestions?

Consider the rig suggested by jhom (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=436074&page=3) or something similar to it like I have:

Markins M10 head (with no QR on it) (http://www.markinsamerica.com/MA5/M10.php?req=black) and the RRS B2 LR2 (http://reallyrightstuff.com/rrs/items.asp?Cc=ClampsLR&iTpStatus=0&Tp=&Bc=). (Links are embedded for you).

don't forget the 5D L-plate (http://reallyrightstuff.com/rrs/Itemdesc.asp?ic=B5D%2DL&eq=&Tp=) (this is the one for no grip)

My suggestion for the 055 tripod would be one of the following, RRS BH40 with lever clamp or Markins M10 or Markins Q3. For the 190, Markins Q3. You will need either a body plate or L bracket for any of the clamps.
