We all know that the new 5D will come out SOMETIME.... maybe sept?

What will the specs be?

My guess:

14.4MP
5FPS
DIGIC III
ISO 3200 (H 6400)
somewhat waterproof
3" liveview with constant AF
self cleaning sensor
+- 3EV
NO PRINT BUTTON

Any other guesses?

17.8mp
3-5fps
+,- 5ev bracketing
6400, or 12800 ISO
14 bit digic III possibly 16bit if they start moving towards the mf range
More custom functions
More custom user settings
3" lcd
Usual features the rest of the line got

I think they will be pushing this even further towards the studio and landscape users.

Mines would be something like that. But I think Canon will add a new feature onto it, since Nikon is coming out with features like virtual horizon, that star effect on the new D60. Hopefully it is something good and useful. And probably a 3" LCD with more pixels?

Here was my guess from another thread a few weeks ago....

The 5D Mk II, or whatever it's called, will probably come out in the fall in conjunction with Photokina 2008. It will have a roughly 16 mpx sensor, based on that of the 1D3, will retain it's smaller body, will carry all the features of the 40D plus a more sophisticated AF system, ISO 6400, and a new, larger viewfinder. Plus, a few other bells and whistles like providing AF when in live-view. It will shoot 4 fps with a big buffer. It may use both CF and SD Cards.

It will retail at $2500-2800 at introduction.

This is pure speculation on my part. I have no idea what CANon's planning!

For me

12-14 mpx FULL FRAME
ISO 6400-12800 <-- most important change
5 FPS
Clean system
DIGIC III
around 2500 dls
same size and weight of 5D

and the most important A BIGGER PRINT BUTTON

Hi

The 5D is essentially a FF 20D.

As such I expect the replacement to be a FF 40D.

5FPS (a generation behind 40D, just as the 5D was a generation behind the 20D)
Sensor cleaning
Live view
17mp (a generation behind the 1Ds)
CF only
ISO50 - 3200 , extended to 6400 (maybe more, to compete with the D3).
Maybe limited weather sealing.

All the best

Keith

Yeah...my thoughts exactly.

New 5D = 40D + full frame sensor and thicker body (if that's possible).

EDIT: and **** the print button
