View Full Version : What Are You Reading At The Moment?

The bookstores near me have absolutely pathetic photography sections, some stores don't even have a photography section, so it makes it a little hard looking for books even though we can always look online at Amazon and similar - However, I get a little tired searching through the unknown in the photography sections of online stores.
So I thought it might be interesting to see what other members of the forum might be reading, photography wise, at the moment.
You never know, you may come across a book posted here which you've never heard of which looks interesting, that is, if this thread doesn't die a quick death.
Currently Reading;
The Moment It Clicks: Photography secrets from one of the world's top shooters by Joe McNally (http://www.amazon.com/Moment-Clicks-Photography-secrets-shooters/dp/0321544080/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202816882&sr=8-1);
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51gMJLsv09L._SS500_.jpg
I'm only a couple of pages in as I was too tired to do much last night, but this look to be an interesting read and I like the way it's written.
I received a 400D / XTi for Christmas so I've been buying a number of books, hopefully I'll get to see some posted here which will interest me.
Cheers,
Jason

I have 2 of those 4 sitting on my book shelf keeping Kant, Mill and Neitzche warm, along with a variety of others.
I've just finnished Peter F Hamiltons latest novel, and have started on "Extraterestial Civilisations" by Asimov.
Nothing very photography related though.

"The Silmarillion " by Tolkien. .... And I though I was the only Tolkien nerd around.. ;) I actually found it quite an interesting story.
Anyway, I am not reading anything photog related other than the photogs depicted in the story. I'm going through the Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. Right now I'm reading Black Echo.

I'm afraid to say that I've had The Children of Húrin for awhile but I've yet to start it - I've heard the first 50 pages or so are a hard read.
I've yet to finish The Moment It Clicks as my mind had been elsewhere as of late, but so far it's very enjoyable - Just a little text, most of the time story based around the relevant picture shown, it has accomplished what its set out to do IMO.

I read that a few weeks back. Is pretty Ok but a bit of a lost opportunity. I kinda wondered if he'd only ever been on short holidays and package tours. he could have gone much deeper.
I need to join the local library. I just keep buying books but then when they're done they just hang around in the way.

Re-reading "Cannibals & Evil Cult Killers" for ****s n' giggles. Unfortunately it seems any book or article written about serial killer is done so using the most childish grammer and lowest-grade sentence structures possible. Written too poorly for me, but when you're bored...
..sort of a thing in my house to collect that type of stuff, on top of the bajillions of DVDs like CSI, Law & Order, House... 9.9;

Reginald Hill is my favorite mystery writer by far...Detective Superintendent Dalziel (aka "The Fat Man") and DCI Pascoe are the perfect team.
Scott Kelby's new book is teach by example written in clear and concise language...I have already picked up some super exposure and editing tips and I am only halfway through the book.
