For everyone that own a camera that you can change the focusing screen on . . .
Have you ever changed your focusing screen?
How easy was it or did you take it to a shop the perform the change?

I have never tried on my Canons, but on the old Olympus, I have often changed the focus screen from the split-screen focuser to the cleai w/ cross hairs for astrophotography.
I also think I would be too scared, right now, to change anything like that on my new Canons.

It's really quite easy. There is a clip hiding behind the mirror bump foam which you undo.
The way to do it id hold the camera upside down, lift the clip then gradually tilt the camera back to the upright position so that the screen ,spacer and clip all drop open.
Usually a special tool is supplied with a new screen but tweezers, etc can be used (with care)
Of the 20-30 times i've done it i've used fingers  :)
Newer 1.6 crop DSLR's are slightly more difficult than a film camera because all the bits are smaller but it's still an easy job
Three things to be carefull about:
Don't touch the screen surface-it's not at all easy to clean some of them
DON"T scratch anything
Don't let crud or dust get in there. It won't affect the pictures but it is annoying
