View Full Version : Any bags that will house notebook + Rebel at the same time?

I'm curious. I carry around my camera and my notebook quite a bit. Plus, I'd like to be able to carry both with me in a single carry-on if I fly anywhere. So, is there a single bag that can hold both a notebook computer and a DSLR and still fit airline regulations?

Thanks in advance

See http://www.tamrac.com/

There are many models that comply with airline regulations.

Canon made one originally in green w/tan trim, then all black. I use the green one daily with a 15" powerbook. Not sure if they still make these or not.

Don't know what airline regs. are these days but the LowePro Reporter 650 can take a notebook as well as a huge amount of camera gear.

I take this with me all the time.. I'm military and do alot of traveling and have NEVER checked my bag. It fits in the overhead and as long as I don't have my TRIPOD or MONPOD attached and don't have all the storage comparments of it filled with crap, it fits fine under the seats. If I just have the Camera, Lenses, and Computer in it, NO PROBLEM, but once I start filling all of the pockets with crap, then I have to STUFF it under the seat. I can get away with putting the charger for the comptuer, camera, and flash in the pockets though and still have no problems to fit it under the seats, just don't get carried away.

This bag is built EXTREMLY well.. Alot of padding for protection and the straps are WELL placed so when you do have the laptop and several lenses in it the weight is distrubited very well....

Ditto. Awesome quality bag, fits lots of gear and remains comfortable even fully loaded. I have travelled on Airplanes as well as done some long day hikes with the computrekker. AWESOME.

Oh, and the Lowepro Logos come right off clean as a whistle by removing the stitching.

Double Ditto.....
I travel alot... (80-90%) and I just finished a 6 week vacation throughout UK & Europe. This bag is GREAT!... And the built in condom really works well! The laptop comes out lickity split at the airport, and they have never hassled me over the bag.

If you don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks, Adorama makes this one...

http://www.adorama.com/GBCBK.html?searchinfo=Commander&item_no=6

...for $50. I carry my Rebel with BG-E1, the nifty fifty, the kit lens 18-55 and a 70-200L f4.0 in it along with my 13.3" ultralight notebook. Unfortunately, if you have a notebook that's bigger than mine...13.3 across...0.77" thick, it might not fit. The notebook slot is quite small, maybe fitting the slimmest of 15" widescreen notebooks.

Otherwise, a nice little bag at a good price. I'll be getting a backpack in the near future but for the time being, this is a very good bag. Also a little more "business-like" than backpacks.

A couple comments....

1) You get what you pay for.... $50 vs $120.... Cheaper quality... Not as well padded for protection of your gear....

2) Backpack vs Shoulderpack, I'll go with the backpack... Rip off the lowepro logo and NO ONE has a clue your hauling around a $1000+ camera and who knows how many $$$$$ worth of add ons plus a $1000+ laptop.. With one of these shoulder bags, it is SCREAMING " BUSINESS GUY!!!! LAPTOP INSIDE!!! STEAL ME!!!" My last laptop bag was a backpack also. It was so nice because if I forgot it in the car on accident, it look like a backpack, Not an obvious laptop bag and I did't have to worry about it getting stolen!

I have the Tenba DB-17C, as i got tired of all my camera gear weighing down one shoulder, but be warned this is one BIG bag, they do make a smaller version though.

Wow, that is a sharp looking bag.. That is one I haven't seen before so I can not comment on the quality of the build but it looks like it can hold some equipment!

Well, so far it has traveld from Washington state, U.S. to the Persian Gulf. I have carried all over Bahrain, Dubai, and Malta and even with it pretty well loaded, has been ok. the only problem to date has been the chest strap. I tore a couple of the stitches loose on it, but was able to repair it. Very nicely padded has protected all of my equipment very well. But is it ever a monster. But for once I have a bag that I haven't out grown in a couple of weeks, not to mention is very functional. I especially like the 4 access panels for lenses, so that I don't have to set the pack down and open the wole thing to get what I want.

I'll put in another vote for the Computrekker. I use it when I shoot ATV events, so I spend a lot of time carrying it up and down mountains and it's very comfortable. It's also my primary bag for travel as I can carry both my laptop and camera gear in one bag because I never check it.

Just to add to my previous comment, I carry a 10d, 70-200 f2.8, 50mm f/1.8, 28-135 IS, 17-40 f/4, 1.4x extender and a speedlight in that bag. They all fit perfectly. I even put a small umbrella at the bottom of the camera compartment for emergency use, and, of course, filters, and other junk.

Hope that helps.

I wonder if CRUMPLER (http://www.crumplerusa.com) has anything? Their stuff is really top notch quality to say the least!

Well seeing as your listed location is Kenosha, Wisconsin, I think we dress differently, but yes I think the same person signs the checks. And from the looks of your profile, there is some similairities. Hope it is cooler for you right now then it is for me.
