Well, the subject really says it all. But, I'm looking for the rechargable batteries for the 420EX that you all have had the most luck with.
Thanks in advance

The Maha's are highly rated. I use them and Rayovac's. Buy the highest MaH's available. They last longer.

I have six sets of Rayovac 2300's. I don't normaly use more than 2 sets for a job.

And will any charger work with these rechargeable batteries? Or is there a specific charger that would be recommended for using the batteries mentioned? I think I'll order a couple sets of four for my 420EX and want to get the most reliable, and of course quickest charger to keep both sets ready to go. Thanks, PhotoDude25

You can use any AA Nimh battery charger, but in order to get the fast (15min-1hr) recharge time advertised for some of the batteries you need to use the specific charger for that brand/type of battery ot they revert to whatever the slower time is of the charger in use. I use a couple of Rayovac 1 hour chargers and a Maha charger. I don't notice any difference between the two in spite of all the hype.

Any special reason that Li-Ion batteries are not recommended or suggested for these flashes?
Thanks

Li batteries are fine. There aren't any AA Li rechargeables to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably be ordering the charger and batteries soon as the cost for alkalines is just not worth the money and hassle of changing batteries and just throwing them away. Is Thomas Dist. the most reasonable price for the Powerex chargers and batteries or would B&H be the better place for shopping for these? I haven't dealt with Thomas in the past, so, I have no clue as to if they are a good place or are overpriced. Thanks, PhotoDude25

The people at Thomas are very nice and reliable. B&H doesn't carry Maha.

Well, just got done ordering the Maha MH-C204F charger with eight 2300Mah Powerex batteries. I got the house and car power cords along with battery cases and even a free battery tester in the deal. Thomas Distributing seems to be highly thought of in the business, so, I have no doubt I made a wise purchase. And no more alkalines to deal with. Hey, maybe with the money I save on batteries, I can buy even more camera stuff..... :D.......Thanks for all the info.........PhotoDude25

I was just wondering how well the Powerex 2300Mah batteries hold up in cold weather? I got two sets of four so will always have backups in my pocket but was wondering just how long do they last between charges? Anyone that uses them currently, let me know what your experiences have been. Thanks, PhotoDude25

I use the Rayovacs in my 550ex. Seem to last a long time and only 15 minutes to recharge. I also got a car charger with rebate. Very goog bang for the buck.

I ordered six 4 Packs of the Lenmar 2300mAh from B&H Photo Video and 5 of the packs were no good. Would not hold a charge. I ordered the charger that B&H recommended for those type of batteries. Returned them and when the new ones arrived, they still were bad. I noticed that some of the batteries had some corrosion on the positve side. Order the Maha batteries, they are the best and they also come with a plastic AA & AAA battery holder. I ordered an extra battery holder for each set and I place green and red tape on them to let me know which are good and which need a charge.

Thanks for the heads up.
Target has 2300MaH AA Energizer NiMh 8@$19.99. Don't buy the Energizer Charger though, it stinks.
