Went to a local show Saturday - definitely interesting lighting.

The lighting isn't bad as far as it being good enough. The lighting is not necessarily easy, though because there are a lot of hot spots. Then one of the artists (no pic up here obviously) turned out the lights and just had a disco ball on the side, and some blue lights on the far left of the stage. I took a couple of flash pics with the on camera flash, and a few with a point and shoot just to have something. I can do low light, but no light doesn't work. LOL

Arghhhh never use flash for performing arts :) Well gigs anyways. Much better results without it.

You have to be able to time the lights. I often shoot the support act before the main just to get an idea of what lights are where. Generally the spot colours dont change between the two acts.

It does not help as to what lights they are going to turn on when but it makes you aware of where the dreaded red lights are coming from :)
