Happy V-Day everyone. For those who want to vent about this day, do it here!

Here's mine:

I got the flu Sunday, my youngest got it Monday, and my oldest got it yesterday. We've all been hacking up a lung for three weeks. My kids both started antibiotics yesterday, so I got to spend yesterday and today wiping slimey noses, listening to hacking coughs, feeling warm foreheads, and listening to whining. All of this while feeling sick myself. First a puke bug at Christmas, now this. I am SO not in the mood for love!
/vent

Ah, that feels a little better, now you share.

Sorry to hear about your kiddies getting sick. No matter what remember they are only young once and quick at that.....have fun with them even in the BAD times.
I wish you and your family well. :)

Thanks guys. It's just been a rough season I guess. I'm really looking forward to spring. We are moving at the end of this month, so being in a house instead of renting a townhouse should make things a bit more comfortable. And school ends in May, so only a couple more months of it all.

Didn't mean to be a downer. I guess some of this rant is also due to my feeling bad the kids had to miss school as we tried to make V-day special with lots of cards and things for their friends. The boys missed their parties, which I feel badly about. There's never a good time to be sick, but during the holidays is just a huge bummer. :(

My two boys crawled in bed with me this morning and told "happy valwintines day, mommy" stopped up and crusty.

Hubby, reeking of VICKS Vapor Rub, kissed me on the forehead and said he'd be home early and be ready for a date.

I just took the second batch of cookies out of the oven, burnt the first one. We've got some delivering to do later.

And you know what, we've all been sick for a month too. I've had next to nothing sleep for about 3 days now due to the hacking cough. But you know what- I am not alone.

A quote from my sister who just lost her 29yr. old husband:

"I've spent a lot of VDay's alone, but none ever so permanent."

;)

I read your thread about your sister's husband. I feel so badly for her and her family. I can't imagine how lonely it feels. I by no means meant to belittle this difficult period in her life.

I promise you she wouldn't have taken it personal!! It's just something I like to remind MYSELF of when I want to complain!

I totally understand that and appreciate your putting things back into perspective. ((Hugs)) to you and your family.

Let's get this thread back on track.

The first (and worst) lie my wife ever told me?

"Don't worry, Sweetie. You don't have to get me anything for Valentine's Day."

I'm still paying for that one 40-some years later.:evil::lol:

This morning:

Me: Happy Valentine's Day!!!
DH: Oh, it's Valentine's Day?
Me: So, you didn't get me the box of See's candy that I asked for?
DH: Now when did I have time to do that?
Me: Well, you have all day today.

I knew that the husband would forget. I like giving him a hard time.

No venting here...

Made heart shaped muffins for the girls... told hubby no gifts, no chocolate.. it will only land on my thighs....

Sent a sexy photo card to him at work..... so hopefully that makes up for the photography seminar I'll be going to tonight... LOL...

Oh that's a lie? Now you have me worried, can I back track years missed? A pantie rose from the gas station up the street enough to sweeten the deal? I only have 10 years in guess I have some time still to salvage this travesty.

Your sure about this right? Hate to go all overboard for nothing.

One of the Aussies (or was it one of the Kiwis?) gave me some good advice.

"Honey, Valentines Day is for single people. We have anniversaries."

Worked for me :D

We only celebrate anniversaries, which are far more personal, and refrain from the Hallmark Days

Ha Ha.. you fell for that one! - I'm sure you've since learnt that what a woman says and what they mean are two completely different things :-)

I got away with just a card (again!)

v.special day

my mother died at approx 11am at home on this day many years ago (when I was 19)

:)
had a lovely day (today)

I saw a big kiss in the sky this evening just before sunset where two planes had crossed
I've seen it happen before but never like this evening. just gorgeous  especially as it is St. Valentine's day
completely clear blue (evening) skies, sun going down, frosty air and this huge massive big white fluffy kiss spread out right all across the sky..... like a scene from .......
(can't think)
lol
but was really beautiful

hope all the family recover real soon Mum2J&M

lotsa love being sent.............. for today especially
and to everyone all over especially those who are feeling the pressure of the unreal demands which this day can cause....

Nothing to vent from me so far. I haven't thrown up yet, my little man gave me kisses, and I have no desire for a present from hubby. He's been more than kind doing the dishes and helping clean as he knows that the dishes make me ill at the moment. But, I did get the numbers for the kids that registered for my classes for next year and I'm worried about getting reduced to 3/4 time for next year. Not a good thing to worry about when you are expecting #2.

Its tomorrow here today of you know what i mean !!!

I was on my way out to dinner last night with my lovely wife when we pulled up along side a friend whilst in the traffic ...I hadn't seen him for a while but what i do know is that he is all ways talking of his wife and his new born baby boy..

This guy has so much enthusiasm for his wife and child he would speak of them all the time with such gusto it would bring the biggest smile to his face...

With this i called out to him "I hope youve bought your flowers and booked the restaurant " Just as the traffic started moving off he replied...No need to she is divorcing me....

Gobsmacked was i...I am still trying to remove my foot from my mouth...

Post Xmas holidays are the worst here for marriage break ups statistically speaking....Why is this so ??
