Whats the best possible way to trigger the strobes when using studio lights?

Easiest and cheapest is a sync cable with a Wein Safe Sync mounted on the hotshoe. I believe the Elinchromes have a slave built in, if not you will need to add a slave to the one not connected to the sync cable (you could use a multi sync cable setup but that puts cables all over the place)
Personally I hate sync cables in the studio so tend to use a hot shoe mounted ST-E2 transmitter to fire my Canon 550EX (on manual on its lowest setting) which in turn fires the strobes. I sometimes use the 550EX as an accent or backdrop light in the overall lighting scheme.
Most expensive but nicest is a radio transmitter setup.

Pocket Wizard Plus set + Sekonic L358 with Pocket Wizard Module($25). No wires to trigger the flashes for picture taking or metering. I've been using them for three years without a problem. Sweeeeet!
