Is anyone having trouble with its Canon G3 Remote Control?
Mine no longer works :-(
I obviously changed the battery... I can see that the remote emits
some light signal but cant make my G3 to response to it.
It did work fine before...
Help !

I had one go bad about 6 months ago. It was still under warantee so I send it back and got a new one. Only took about a week. It started acting up and would only trip the shutter after multiple depressions of the button. Then, one day it quit altogether.. If you are beyond the warantee period, I think it costs about $35 to replace.

Max,
Can we assume that you have the camera correctly set (page 175 of the manual) to accept the signal from the remote?

Mine died too, after about 6 months - so it was a warrently replacement, but I had to be pretty persistent to get it (in New Zealand). It took over 2 months to get the replacement.

I have the same problem but my camera is out of guarantee.
I can see the remote control emits light but the doubt still there. Is it the remote control or the camera?
You guys that had the camera under guarantee, do you know if it was the remote?

A new remote fixed the problem - so one assumes....

I changed the battery of the remote and PROBLEM SOLVED! The most misleading point was to see the diode emitting light as if everything was Ok but it was not! The battery was too weak.

With my own G3, I changed batteries very regularly before finally giving up and buying a cheap generic remote. For a while, the generic seemed to have better performance but I eventually gave up on it as well. Canon appears to have dropped the wireless remote (none available for my G9 anyway) so I assume that there were fundamental problems.

It helps to flip your canon cameras manual open and find solutions to the problem. Going through the pages is time-consuming but it's worth it, though.
