I'm picking up a Sunpak PZ40x (or maybe Sigma 500 DG Super ) for on-camera flash, but I'd like to play around with picking up an old vivitar 283 for moving the flash off-camera (always off camera with the 283) and in different locations for "product" shots.. not really any real products, just stuff I pick up around the house to practice with. In the latest issue of 'Shutterbug' there's an article where a guy uses a wein transmitter (Radio, I think, could be IR), to fire a flash off camera mounted on a mini-digicam tripod.. Anyone know what this unit is exactly? He just said it was a Wein transmitter, I can't find a model or a price..

Do a Google Search: Wein IR transmitter
Its is basically a wireless PC cord connection. No ETTL, just flash on. You have to set the flash manually.
