This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 800 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have there "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read (Before and After #21.)

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This game will end on February 17th, 2008 @ 12:00am eastern, 9:00pm (pacific)

This was a picture I took in Salt Lake City.

I had alot of fun with the mountain on this one.

-Cropped the photo
-Sharpened
-Added contrast
-Used the dodge tool on pretty much everything then lowered the opacity
-Made a new layer set on soft light and added color to the mountain, water and parts of the boats then lowered the opacity
-Copped some layers of the photo and lowered opacity until I got the sky the way I wanted.
-added border and text.

I went for a more accurate approach this time.

The same old ****. level, curves, blending layers and masking combine all this with different blending modes to bring forward details.

This photo reminded me of a postcard, so I tried to run with that.

Didn't have to do much. I think all I did to the actual picture was up the red, blue and yellow and add more contrast.
Created the edge by resizing the canvas, then selecting the white and adding a filter from the elements gallery called ocean ripple.
Added the text.

Everyone great job on this one. Here are the winners:

Flywing- I like the pano version it works out surprisingly well I can also see where you tried to get rid of the reflections on the water so that it didn't look like it was flipped. I also like how nicely detailed the mountains looks as well.

Lunajen- I also like your pan version as well. The moon sitting on the horizon is a nice touch and I also like the gradient effect on the sky.

An honorable mention to suzyb it does make a nice postcard. I like the border effect I think it does work with it. Sorry about that Silver we'll see what comes up in the next one. :D

Congrats to everyone!! When my family & I saw Flywing's panoramic image, we figured it was a winner. ... It looked like you created an entire marina with that edit. Absolutely outstanding, and the PP did a nice job on every aspect of the image.

The other versions were also outstanding, and could have won in their own right too. Nice job to all!! ;)
