Hi All:
Does anyone know how I can take a photo of an already existing photo. I tried and it was a disaster. I first put the photo on a table and tried to take it that way. That did not work out. The room was lit by daylight. I used the flash and got a big flash glow in the middle of the picture. I then turned the flash off and then of course had to raise the iso and I got camera shake. well that led me to put the picture on the wall and tried to take it with make shift tripod. Well that worked well except my light source. what if i the normal day lit room, if i used the regular lamp in the room i get a glare. any suggestions???
Thank you.

It is for reasons like this that flatbed image scanners were invented.

Perhaps hard to believe, but cameras were not developed to take pictures of other pictures -- without additional equipment.
If my life depended on it, I could probably cobble together a lighting setup to use in conjunction with the A80's custom white balance function to accomplish the task. Better ... borrow or buy a scanner. You can get one for under $100.
There are also plenty of services that will do the scan for you - cheaply. Here's one place (http://www.photoscan4u.com/scanning/index.htm) I picked out of my hat. $1.00 per scan!!

There is a way and what you need is a lot more equipment than what you have. It will be off trying to scan

It's actually very easy. Rather than a make shift tripod, just set the photo you want to take a picture of standing up on the floor--against the wall. It helps if you can take the photo out of any frame it's in. You can then tilt the photo by moving the bottom toward you or away from you to keep glare from light sources off the image.
Once you take the shot, you will need to post process it a bit. Depending on how much you had to tilt it, you will have some distortion. Play with "curves," etc. I did a bunch for my in-laws (at their house 2,000 miles away and they don't have a scanner). I was 80% happy with how they came out--but they thought I was a genius (finally!).

Thanks everyone for the tips. I do have a scanner, but I was just trying my hands on the idea of the day.
