Ok ok, so this may not be big news to you guys, but this is my first new lens and I feel like I won the lottery, hehe. Now to go shoot crazy.

Nice! I got my 50mm yesterday for my 20D :)

That packing/box looks like mine did when I got it... I'm guessing from B&H as well?

Have fun with it, I thought I'd terribly miss having zoom capability, but I find I can easily get around that, and I really like this lens a whole lot.

That's actually why I bought it.. I wanted to remove the dependence on zoom in my photography.. I think I'll learn a lot more when I have to move and position myself, rather than the camera doing it for me.

We should start a 50 club :P

Yeah, I'm really thinking having to reposition myself rather than just zooming in will help me to put more thought into some of my pictures and also take more into consideration and learn even more.

The 50 club sounds good, but from the sound of it, it'd be quite large  :D

I just got my 50 f/1.4 today too... although, my box wasn't packed that good. I also bought the Kenko extension tube set, and a 1 gig cf... so not as much room in the box for packing. I took a few pictures with it, and so far love it :)

Picked up a 50 1.8 at Adray in Detroit when I went down Monday....................less then half the price they go for here in Canada.

Extermely sharp and have some great shollow depth capabilities.

Indeed my friend, B&H came through, so I just ordered a tele lens from them as well.
This lens is nutso sharp, it makes my 18-55 look like a kids toy almost. And I agree about the preferring to learn how to move around to get your shots than rely on the zoom. I feel the exact same way.
If we get a Fifty club going, sign me up!! :D

While trying my new 100 macro today for the 1st time, the above idea kept on poping in my head. Didn't expect primes to be so much fun.
