Looks like Corel makers of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and WordPerfect Office Suite have acquired Jasc Software, Inc. as a user of PSP9 I don't know yet if this is a good thing or bad :? :? :? Just thought I'd pass the info on

It could very well be a good thing if they eventually combine it with Corel Paint. They're both excellent programs - with features combined they could make an awesome editor.

That's the plus side, the down side is that jack up the price, If they keep the price the same than thats a plus plus

Corel Painter is $149 from Corel's website - just a little more than PSP. And you'll get a chance at an upgrade price probably.
But Painter 9 is coming out, the companies are merging. You won't see Corel PSP for a year at least, if not 1.5 years. But you might also not see a PSP upgrade until then either.

Also, it's been many years, but Corel Painter was definitely worth the money. It wasn't PS, but it was very good and 1/5 the price.

Ahh yes.. but you forget that "Painter" was just another of Corel's "aquisitions"
Seems Corel has made quite a career of buying other peoples cool stuff.
Painter was made by a company called "Fractal Design" ...long since defunct...
And of course many of Corel's best products now were just purchased from "MetaCreations" (KPT, Bryce, Poser etc...)
Far as I know Corel's only real contributions (as opposed to purchases) were "Draw" (and associted suite) and Wordperfect.. (remember Word Perfect?)
Anyway.. I'm not a big fan of big software conglomerates that buy up all the good stuff and call it there own

I remember it quite well. I even remember back when it was owned by Wordperfect, before Corel bought them.
And Corel Paint existed before they bought Fractal. Paint was very good, and Painter became even better after the products merged.
Whoever owns it doesn't really matter if it's a good product, eh?

guess I was thinking of Corel draw at $199.99 and not painter, Maybe the combination of the 2 programs (PSP and Painter) will give Adobe some real compatition and force them to lower there price    wishful thinking eh! :?
